The Big Dig Begins

Beginning Monday morning, December 28, we are now officially a construction zone. Look at our permit--it's blue and in the window!

The claw picks up huge chunks of earth, puts it in the red trailer to be hauled off, and it just keeps going. This is Monday's progress, making sure that the top area is correct.

Also on Monday the water line to the Children's House got cut. We will be having Religious Education in the main building for the months of January and February (at least) for the safety of our children and to give our guys some time to decide what to do about our water situation.

First you hug the tree, then you move it.

Friday, December 18, the maple tree got moved from between our two existing buildings to the front of the Children's House. It is to memorialize Bill and Jesse Ross. We had to drench the roots for three days to help it acclimate to its new environment. Now we have to take care of it for the next couple of years to see if the transplant is a success. Each week we will need to water it, and as soon as possible, trim the canopy.
